Mrs. Barbara Jean Melton, 88, of Huntingdon passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Tracy McDaniel officiating.  Interment will follow in New Crossroads Cemetery.

Pallbearers who served were Ricky Montgomery, Dennis Townsend, Chris Black, Randy Cooper, Jim Innis, and John Innis.

The family will receive friends in the Oakwood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday from 11:00 AM until time of service.

Mrs. Melton was born August 31, 1934, in Huntingdon, Tennessee to the late William Doye and Euphia Gladys (Crews) Cooper.  She was a life-long farmer and a member of New Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church.  Other than her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, of 67 years, Elvis B. Melton, two brothers, Weldon Cooper and Howard Cooper

She is survived her cousins, John Innis, Jim Innis, all of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a nephew, Randy Cooper of Camden, three nieces, Kathy Howell (Chris) of Bruceton, Susan Montgomery (Ricky) of Lexington, Karen Townsend (Dennis) of Huntingdon. She also leaves her loving Amish Community Family, especially the family of Nathaneal Borntrager.
