Mr. Bernice "Redfox" Birdwell, 85, of Cedar Grove, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017, at the McKenzie Healthcare and Rehab.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, July 23 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Bro. Darrell Ridgely will officiate the service.
The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood room of Chase Funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Sunday from 12:00 PM until time of services.
Masonic Rites service will be held Saturday at 8:00 PM and Eastern Star Service will be held Saturday at 8:30 PM.
Mr. Birdwell was born March 18, 1932 in Westport, Tennessee to the late Geno Barlow Birdwell and Eula Mae (Barhart) Birdwell. He was retired from the Milan Arsenal, a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church; he served as Pastor for three churches and also held services at all county nursing homes and held several revivals. He was a member of the Huntingdon Masonic Lodge #106 and the Eastern Stars. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Weathers and Betty Owens; a brother, Bobby Birdwell.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ida Birdwell; two daughters, Clara Nanney (husband Donald) of Millington, and Deborah Brown (husband Mike) of McKenzie; a son Roger Birdwell (wife Connie) of Cedar Grove. He also leaves nine grandchildren, Jason Whitt, Roger Birdwell Jr., Stephanie Spain, Rhonda Adams, Tennille Baker, Lee Barham, Jana Barham, Justin Brown and Jake Brown, twelve great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
