Mrs. Bernice Lavern Smith 92, formerly of Huntingdon passed away Monday, October 01, 2012 at NHC Healthcare in Dickson.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery. Bro. Bryan Oakes and Bro. David Jordan will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends in the CherryWood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM.

Pallbearers who will serve are Charles Woodard, Ray Woodard, Billy Mac Rich, Hubert Johnson, Billy Depriest and Glendon Rich.

Mrs. Smith was born November 1, 1919in Benton County, Tennessee to the late Willie Jordan and Minnie Ray (Prince) Jordan. She was a homemaker, a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and she worked several years at the Publix Shirt Factory. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jamie Smith, a son; William "Bill" Smith, four sisters; Louise Johnson, Lucille Flake, Bertha Chandler, Mavis Reed and two brothers; James Jordan and W. C. Jordan.

She is survived by two daughters; Mary Smith Stokes (Michael) of Hendersonville and Meletha Rich (Raymond) of White Bluff. She also leaves nine grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
