Obituary

Betty Charline Giroski lost her battle with Alzheimer's on January 17, 2021 in Huntingdon, Tennessee, with her beloved daughter at her side.

Betty was born in Miami, Oklahoma on July 2, 1938 to the late Maxine (Marshall) Warnock and Kenneth Warnock. The family moved to Coffeyville Kansas, where she spent her formative years.

Betty and her daughter, Cheryl Jean, moved to Houston, Texas after she married Jack Webb and it is there that she gave birth to a son, Jack Lee.

After the marriage dissolved, Betty met and married the love of her life, Paul (Moose) Giroski, who had played football at Rice University. The couple set up housekeeping in the countryside outside of Porter, where they became Master Gardeners and tended their gardens of hundreds of roses. It was at this time that Betty became a law breaker, visiting local gardens and taking clippings from exotic plants to put in her garden. Luckily, she was never caught.

Betty and Moose enjoyed fishing in the gulf and having their grandchildren visit them in the country. They also enjoyed returning to Independence, Kansas in the spring to hunt wild mushrooms and also to attend Neewollah with her Dad. The family has many wonderful memories of reunions at Riverside Park.

Several times through the years, Betty and Moose made the journey to Alaska, where they explored the Kenai Peninsula with Betty's Mom and step-dad, Dale Penner, and where they feasted on the halibut and salmon that Betty's brothers, Mike and Gary brought home.

Betty is predeceased by her parents, her son, Jack Lee Webb, a sister Carolyn Sue Graffham, and a grandson Gary Wayne Giroski (Smith).

She will be laid to rest in the Ross Cemetery, Neodesha, Kansas in the spring, date to be announced.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Jean Nicolay, of Bruceton, Tennessee, and three step children, Bonnie (Sabrsula) Giroski, of Phoenix, Arizona, Doll (Greer) Giroski, of Houston, Texas, and Gary Giroski, of Galveston, Texas.  She has two sisters, Sharon (Halcomb) Warnock, Port St Lucie, Florida, and Brenda Hester, Nowata, Oklahoma, two brothers, Mike and Gary Penner, both of Soldotna, Alaska.  Her grandchildren include Natalie and Brigitte Nicolay, Jennifer Voskuhl, Jeremiah Sabrsula, Travis and Dallas Greer, and also six great grandchildren.

Betty was loved and will be missed by all who mourn her passing. May she rest in peace.
