Mrs. Betty Swearingen, 84, of Hollow Rock, Tennessee passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Eiffel Gardens in Paris.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM Prospect Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock.
The family will receive friends in the Oak Wood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday at Prospect Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until time of service.
Mrs. Swearingen was born February 16, 1937 in Clarksburg, Tennessee, to the late Virgil and Mary (Crider) Wall. She worked as a telephone operator for H. I. S. Company in Bruceton, was a member of Prospect Baptist Church, former Sunday school teacher, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and VFW in Hollow Rock. Of her graduating class, she was also the salutatorian for Clarksburg High School. Other than her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Swearingen, one brother, Bobby Wall, and an infant son.
She is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Downen (Russell) of Jackson, Lillian Allen (Tony) of Mansfield, and one son, Don Swearingen (Trish) of South Carolina. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Christopher Downen (Aimee), Alaina Claire Downen, Dr. Amber Watson (Rhett Chrysler), Daniel Allen (Sara), Zach Swearingen (Rob), Kendall Swearingen, Emma Humphries (Jason), and two great-grandchildren, Charleigh Allen and Ella Swearingen.
