Brent Franklin Smith, 55, of Huntingdon, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Baptist Hospital Huntingdon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Carters Chapel Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at Carter’s Chapel Church on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM, with Mike Foster officiating.

The family will receive friends at Carter’s Chapel Church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

Brent was born May 12, 1971, in Huntingdon, to the late Dallas Franklin Smith and Judith Elaine Thomsen Smith. He was an employee for the City of Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by a son, Justin Allen Taylor.

Along with his mother, Judith (stepfather Clyman), he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Loretta Smith; a daughter, Kelly Sutton, of Huntingdon; two sisters, Shan Newsome (Kevin) of McLemoresville, and Keisha Smith, of Hermitage. He also leaves two grandchildren, Sawyer Tye Sutton and Ayden Allen Taylor; nieces Brianna Newsome Brewer (Ethan) of McLemoresville, TN, and Sierra Holden (Lee) of Mt. Juliet, TN; and nephews Terin Mays and Trey Mays, both of Hermitage, TN.
