Obituary

Bro. Wendell W. "Johnny" Boyd, 81 of Buena Vista, Tennessee, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 at Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Bryant and Bro. Phillip Gulledge officiating.  Interment will follow in Jamison Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the Oakwood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Wednesday from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM, and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service.

Pallbearers who will serve are Logan Boyd, Caleb Boyd, Peyton Boyd, Noah Hampton, Nick Douglas, Matt Dretzka, Cody Knuutila, and Michael Baker.

Mr. Boyd was born September 10, 1940 in Westport, Tennessee, to the late Holbert and Hattie Lee (Brackins) Boyd.  He served as a Minister for several Missionary Baptist Churches for 51 years, served in the National Guard for eight years.  His favorite hobbies included coon hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.  Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence Tyler Boyd, Howard Leon Boyd, Alton McKinley Boyd, Lyndell Odell Boyd, Bendell Ray Boyd, three sisters, Alice Mae Knuutila, Betty Jean Sanders, and Hattie Sue Crossett.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Charlie Mae Turner Boyd, one daughter, Virginia Ann Douglas (Gary) of Huntingdon, one son, Jerry Wayne Boyd (Shirley) of Westport, two sisters, Jo Helen Noel of Huntingdon, and Minnie Lee Howell of Westport, six grandchildren, Hope Dretzka (Matt), Nick Douglas (Kaitlyn), Logan Boyd (Julia), Caleb Boyd (Leah), Faith Douglas, Peyton Boyd, six great grandchildren, Reagan Dretzka, Willow Douglas, Neo Douglas, Shiloh Douglas, Greyson Boyd, Jerry Sorrelli.  He also leaves many nieces and nephews, three special fishing buddies, Michael McLean, Roger Hollowell, Paul Boyd, and one special hunting buddy, Michael Renfroe.
