Mrs. Carolyn Dew, 79, of Ripley, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the Lauderdale Community Living Center of Ripley. Funeral services will be will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Mary's Chapel Baptist Church, in Ripley. Bro. Doug Clinton and Bro. Brent Willis will officiate the service. Interment to follow in the Mary's Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Mary's Chapel Baptist Church on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until time of service.
Pallbearers to serve will be Tyler Wiggins, Larry Durham, Roger Leake, Corey Phillips, Rick Massengil, and Ronnie Elder. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Mary's Chapel Church.
Mrs. Dew was born January 30, 1941 to the late Woodrow and Mayburn (Shelley) Byrd. She was retired from American Greetings where she worked several years as a forklift operator. She was a long-time member of Mary's Chapel Baptist Church, where she made several dear friends throughout the years. She loved to cook and to sing. She also deeply loved her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Troy Byrd, Milford Byrd, Jerry Byrd, and Charles Byrd, and a granddaughter, Lillie Dew.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Tommy Dew, one son, Steve Dew of Ripley, and a daughter-in-law, Kim Dew of Dyersburg, a sister, Linda Jarrett (Jim) of Ripley, a brother, Bobby Byrd of Birmingham, Alabama, two sisters -in- law, Linda Durham (Larry) and Sarah Byrd, all of Covington, and five grandchildren, Stephen Dew (Jordan) of McKenzie, Tyler Wiggins, of Halls, Gabbie Dew, Noah Dew, Jon-Bradlee Dew all of Dyersburg, two honorary grandchildren, Roger Leake, of Memphis, and Corey Phillips, of Ripley, several nieces and nephews, special friends, church family, and her first great grandchild on the way.
