Mr. Clarence Norman, aka Little Man, aka Ice Cream Man, 87 of Huntingdon, Tennessee, passed Sunday, May 15, 2022 at his home.
Due to the family's concern for the health and well-being of others, they ask that everyone please wear a mask.
Memorial Services will be conducted on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of service.
Mr. Norman was born September 15, 1934 in Memphis, Tennessee, to the Rosebud Norman Anderson and James Anderson. He attended the following schools: Hale School, Huntingdon, Tennessee, Webb High School, McKenzie, Tennessee, and Compton, Jr. College, Compton California. His Church was as follows: Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America, Huntingdon, Tennessee Served as an Elder in the local church, Clerk of the New Hopewell Presbytery, Stated Clerk of the Tennessee Synod, and representative at the National General Assembly, Member of New Reedy Creek Missionary Baptist Church, choir member until his health declined. His years of employment included: Foote Mineral in New Johnsonville, Tennessee from 1968 – 1978, Huntingdon Fire Department retiring with the rank of Captain from 1978 - 1996, and served in the U. S. Navy from 1951 - 1955. He served in his community as follows: Town of Huntingdon Council Member for 12 years Carroll County NAACP President from 1977 - 1984, Past Advisor to the Black Student Union at Bethel University, and Former Board Member at Bethel University. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lolita Diane Norman (Deceased 1963), his grandparents, Grandson of the late Clarence and Daisy Norman and great grandparents, Jim and Sally Norman
He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Ruby Jean Hunt Norman, one daughter, Gina Atkins (Conrad), two grandchildren, Lauren Joynes (Charles), Joseph Atkins, and two great grandchildren, Kree and Kruz Joynes. He was also the Godfather to Nicholas "Nicky" Williams and LaRhonda Scott-Deberry
