Mrs. Dorothy Louise Laws, of Jackson, Tennessee (formerly of Clarksburg, Tennessee), passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at the age of 91.

Memorials can be given to the North Jackson Church of Christ, 2780 Hwy 45 Bypass North, Jackson, TN 38305 or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN  38105.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Simons, Bro. David Powell, and Bro. Josh Cook officiating.  Burial will follow in Sellers Hill Cemetery at Clarksburg.

The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until time of service.

"Sissy", as she was affectionately called by family or "Mama Dot" by grandkids and friends, was born on October 5, 1928 in Carroll County, Tennessee to the late John Alvin and Nannie Lou Ellen (Hardy) Pritchard.  She was preceded in death by her husband, of 49 years, Waldon Huell "Preacher" Laws and four brothers: Thomas, Lyndell, Lois Ray, and Freddie Pritchard.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Carwile of Jackson, and Kimberly Laws of McKenzie; sons, Kerry Laws (Karen) of McKenzie and Timothy Laws of Pueblo, Colorado; six grandchildren, Chris Laws (Erin), Brian Black (Michelle), Josh Black, Amber Carwile, Nick Laws and Lindsey Arnold (Charlotte); twelve great-grandchildren, Sadie, Madi, Aayden, Addyson, Avery, Aybel, Braylee, Carlie, Tucker, Analeigh, Matilda and Ava; two step-grandchildren, Angie Wainscott (Rusty), and Caleb Wilson (Ashley); six step-great-grandchildren, Mason, Lucas, Skylar, Jayden, Hailey, and Gunner; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a homemaker and was a faithful member of the Roan's Creek Church of Christ until she moved to Jackson with her daughter, Sherry and granddaughter, Amber, at which time she placed membership at the North Jackson Church of Christ.  She obtained her GED in 2007 at the age of 78 and was the oldest person in Carroll County to achieve that honor.  She also wrote for the Carroll County News Leader for forty plus years and was an usher at The Dixie Performing Arts in Huntingdon.  She loved to read her Bible, work puzzles, and listen to music.  She loved deeply and was loved deeply.  She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
