Obituary

Rev. Dossie Franklin Wheatley, 75 of Huntingdon, Tennessee, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 at the Carroll Lake Golf Club in McKenzie, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church, 201 Asbury Circle, Huntingdon, TN 38344.

Memorial service will be conducted on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church. Dr. Jerry Carr, Dr. Jerry Jeffords, and Pastor Mark Carrigan will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends in the Cherry Wood of Chase Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Monday at the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church from 1:00 PM until time of service.

Rev. Wheatley was born December 18, 1937 in Benton County, Tennessee to the late Joe Buren and Martha Lucille (Potts) Wheatley. He was a retired United Methodist Minister, a member of the Memphis Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and Huntingdon Masonic Lodge #106. He loved God, his church, his family and golfing.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Wheatley, two daughters, Marianne Archer (husband John, Jr.) of Jackson, Penny Comes (fiance Greg Wilson) of Memphis, one son, Dr. Kevin Wheatley (wife Susan) of Huntingdon, his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Underwood of Jackson, two brothers, Baxter Wheatley (wife Carlyne) of Union City, and Bill Wheatley (wife Brenda) of Jackson. He was also preceded in death by one brother, J. G. Wheatley. He also leaves eight grandchildren, Kent Archer, Scott Archer, Sara Piercey, Emily Piercey, Sam Comes, John Wheatley, Lisa Wheatley, Thomas Wheatley, and one great granddaughter, Kalysta King.
