Obituary

Mr. Ernest Edward Bond Jr., 86 of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home on Sunday from 12 Noon until time of service.

Mr. Bond was born March 26, 1933 in St. Johns, Michigan to the late Ernest Edward Bond Sr. and Edna Opal Reynolds. He graduated from DeWitt High School in 1951 and entered the Air Force the same year, becoming crew chief of jet fighters during the Korean conflict. He married Greta Perry in 1951 after returning from the Air Force and attended Michigan State University. In 1963 he moved his family to Carlsbad, California and joined the fire department. He served as fireman, engineer, Captain and Fire Inspector. He became an instructor of "extrication" and an expert on the "Jaws of Life." He received a lifetime teaching certificate enabling him to teach fire service. He and Greta retired to Huntingdon in 1987. He belonged to the Firefighters Association of Carlsbad and a member of the California Firemen's Association. He was a fifty year member of the Masonic lodge and the Eastern Star and a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church of Huntingdon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Greta Bond, a brother, Kenneth Bond and a sister, Mary Lord

He is survived by a daughter, Jana Blackwell, two sons, Jay Bond (wife Connie) and Perry Bond (wife Mary) all of Huntingdon.  He also leaves six grandchildren, Kyle, Jacob, Kristen, Timothy, Claire and Blair and three great grandchildren, Axel, Dean and Wilks.
