Mrs. Essie Mitchell, 102, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at her home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home.
A Life Well-Lived: 102 Years
A life well lived, a heart so true,
A gentle soul, now passing through.
With laughter bright, and kindness shown,
A legacy of love, forever known.
Through changing seasons, ever strong,
A guiding light, where we belong.
In every smile, in every word,
A precious memory, forever heard.
Though time may steal, the love remains,
In whispered stories, and cherished names.
A life well lived, a star so bright,
Now shining on, in endless light.
Essie was born March 3, 1922; the oldest child of eight children to Daisy Williams who preceded her in death. brothers (Clinton, Clarence, Willie Henry), and sisters (Willie Pearl, Doris, Ophelia). Dr. Thomas Jackson, the youngest of eight children and living. Also preceding her in death, her two sons, Joseph Harris and Willie "Pee Wee" Harris, and her daughter, Brenda Ann Jackson, her grandchildren, Kindell Bonman and Nakita Johnson.
Essie moved to California and became a Dietician. After retirement, she started a residential home for seniors. She had a generous spirit. Providing support to and opening her home to many. She was an avid animal lover, particularly dogs.
Essie's love for the Lord was celebrated under the loving care of her brother, Dr. Thomas Jackson, Ph.D., M.E.E.T Ministry. More than anything in life, Essie had an unconditional love for her family and an innate passion for music!
Essie will be forever remembered by her grandsons, Eric Harris and Jonathan Harris, granddaughter, Theresa Harris, great-grandchildren, Kimberly Dixon, Malike Harris, Tabitha Johnson, and Angel Johnson; great-great grandchildren, Kamariya Bonman, Malia Dixon, Makhi Dixon, Kamryn Dixon; great-great-great grandchild Kashmer James; her brother, Thomas Jackson, Ph.D., and sisters-in-law, LaVerne Jackson and Herminia Hunter, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, Ms. Tofina Ieremia, Caregiver; and the M.E.E.T Ministries family.
God granted her 102 years of life. She leaves a legacy of inspiration, love, joy and praises to her Heavenly Father, love of family, contentment, and a sense of humor!
