Garvin C. Smothers, 90, Korean War Army Veteran, beloved husband of the late Doris E. (nee Atkins); loving father of Dr. Gina (Mark) DiMartino; dear friend of Andrew Allen; dearest uncle and great uncle of many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories, stories and personal reflections of Mr. Smothers with the family at 5:00 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted at Palmer Shelter Methodist Church on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with interment to follow in Palmer Shelter Church Cemetery.

He was a member of Argo Summit Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star Starlite Chapter.  Garvin cherished nature and his love for animals.
