Mr. George Chester "Poppa" Johnson, 88 of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. Bro. Fred Ward will officiate the service.

Pallbearers who will serve are David Bond, Doug Williams, Lantz Giles, Darrell Williams, and Kurt Thomas.

The family will receive friends in the Oak Wood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.

Mr. Johnson was born February 10, 1927 in Carroll County, Tennessee, to the late Clyde and Candace (Stow) Johnson . He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Huntingdon, retired from the Milan Arsenal as a store clerk, and was a United States Army WWII Veteran. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ellie Marie Johnson.

He is survived by fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He also leaves his caregivers for the last few years, Susan House, Jennifer Giles, and Erica Wilkes.
