Obituary

Gloria Jean (Crank) Blankenship, age 84, of Huntingdon, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, November 22, 2024.

Born on September 17, 1940, in Orlando, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Reverend O.C. Crank and Hazel (Mullins) Crank.

Gloria was the daughter and granddaughter of preachers - so after her birth in Orlando her journey took her to Miami, Florida; Phoenix, Arizona; Baltimore, Maryland; then back to Orlando where she graduated from William R. Boone High School, but not before she met James M. Blankenship of Parsons, Tennessee, who was stationed in the Air Force in Orlando. They married in 1958 at the Orange Avenue Church of God in Orlando and shared 66 years of joy and commitment together.

After her deep commitment to Jesus, Gloria was most committed to her family. No one nor nothing took the place of her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She attended nearly every sporting event, concert, church event, or graduation. Deeply committed to church, she was most recently a member of First Assembly of God in Camden, Tennessee, and previously at New Life Church in Kokomo, Indiana, where she spent many years with her family since her husband's occupation took the family there. She was a leader in nearly every area of ministry in the church. The number of lives she influenced cannot be numbered. She was mostly a homemaker, but also an Executive Secretary for Delco Electronics (General Motors) in Kokomo, Indiana. She enjoyed sewing, clothing and jewelry crafting, cooking, shopping, and antiquing.

She is survived by her husband, James Morris Blankenship, of Huntingdon, Tennessee; her sons James (Lynn) Blankenship of Decatur, Arkansas; and Randy (Sharon) of Huntingdon, Tennessee; her grandchildren Anna (Kyle) Sadler of Huntingdon, Tennessee, and Randal of Portland, Oregon; and her great-grandchildren Isaiah, Moxie, & Micah Sadler of Huntingdon, Tennessee; and brothers Charles Crank, Doug Crank, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, O.C. & Hazel Crank; sisters Marie Brommer & Eva Ellison.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 27th, from 10 am until noon - with services at noon in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home in Huntingdon, Tennessee, Pastor Randy Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow at Derryberry Cemetery on Darden Christian Chapel Road in Darden, Tennessee.

The family would like to express special appreciation to the hospice team of Baptist Home Health and Hospice in Huntingdon, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Baptist Home Health and Hospice of Huntingdon, Tennessee.
