Mr. Gurley was born on Oct. 6, 1947 and was the son of the late Melvin E. Gurley and Maxine Segraves Gurley. Gregor was retired from Delavan in Lexington, TN, where he retired as a supervisor. While working at Delavan, Gregor also built with his own two hands the beautiful log cabin that he lived in with his wife, Brenda, up until the time of his passing. He would leave work at Delavan everyday and then proceed into the woods where he cut down and cut up every log that was used to build their forever home. Although this was something he was very proud of, his real passion was auctioneering. Gregor truly loved being an auctioneer and excelled at it for over 40 years. At one time, there wasn't an auction you could go to without seeing the huge Gurley's Auction Service sign and hearing Gregor yell into the microphone while standing on his green flatbed, playing through the speakers. And even then, his wife Brenda was by his side, and usually the face you saw when you went to get your number. He dated his wife, Brenda Gurley, for 13 years, and then they finally wed on Dec. 31, 1993. Also, while auctioneering, he earned his real estate license and worked for Towne & Country in Jackson, TN. However, in 2006, he experienced health problems, and had to give up what he loved doing and had to retire from auctioneering and real estate. He was a member of New Liberty Church and he knew his savior at the time of his passing. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his younger brother, Mark A. Gurley.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Brenda Duke Gurley; a son, Glenn Gurley; three daughters: Lisa (Leslie) Kelly, Melissa (Damon) Bartley and Jamie McFarland; eight grandchildren: Josh (Nicole) Kelly, Heather Gurley, Brandon (Jessica) McCormick, Ashley (Robert) Gurley, Dylan Gurley, Ava Bartley, Emma Bartley and Trista Russom; and two great-grandchildren: Cooper Wilkes and Baker Kelly.
