Mr. Harvey Leon Turner, 87, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 11:00 in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Military Chaplain officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. Masonic Services will begin at 10:30 AM on Saturday.
The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
Army Military Honor Detail will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Turner was born January 4, 1935 in Huntingdon, Tennessee, to the late Lewis Turner and Ora (Vancleave) Turner. He was a Vietnam Army Veteran, serving multiple tours in Vietnam, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Soldiers Medal, Bronze Star, Air Medal with Seventh Oak Leaf Cluster, and Vietnam Service Medal with 5 campaign stars. He retired from the 101 st Airborne Division as a Chief Warrant Officer 4, having served as an Army Aviator, flying both fixed and rotary winged aircraft. His military awards include the Master Parachutist badge and the Master Aviator badge. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #106, and American Legion. Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife of fifty-five years, Shirley Ann Turner, one daughter, Dr. Cindy Turner Dedmon, and one brother, George Turner.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Wall) Turner, two sons, Steven Turner (Rae) of Shelbyville, Kentucky, Lt. Col. Matthew Turner (Paula) of Panama City Beach, Florida, two step sons, Dr. Barry Wall (Stephane) of Germantown, Lynn Wall (Betsy) of Springfield, Missouri, one step-brother, Berry Turner (Kim) of Fulton. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Sarah Beth Turner, Joshua Turner Dedmon, Samuel Bart Turner, Ethan Brett Turner, Dr. Katelin Anne Holmes, Madison Blaire Turner, and Braden Paul Turner, three step grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren.
