Obituary

Mr. Jackie Loyd Wilkes, 82, of Jackson Tennessee passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Memorial services will be conducted in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024 with Bro. Gerry Campbell officiating.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Chase Funeral on Saturday from 12:00 PM until time of the service at 2:00 PM.

Mr. Wilkes was born April 14, 1942 in Leach, Tennessee to the late Willie Gray and Inez (Kirby) Wilkes. He graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1960 and attended Bethel College. He was a member of Northside Church in Jackson. He was a Jaycee in his early years and later became a member of the Huntingdon Rotary Club. He was very proud to be a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved his trips out west to hunt with his hunting friends. He worked with his uncle, Fred Moore for years in the oil and gas business and ended his work years with Bill Sills Sportswear.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Inez Kirby Wilkes and Willie Gray Wilkes; his sister, Janice Wilkes Hill and brother-in-law, R. Michael Hill, and a son, Mark Hudson Wilkes.

He was married to Sandra Hudson on May 3, 1963. They had three children, two of whom survive, Stacey and Shan. He was a good "Daddy" to his girls and delighted with his granddaughter, who he referred to as "little Tootie."

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Hudson Wilkes, and two daughters, Stacey Lauren Wilkes, of Nashville and Shanna Lynn Wilkes of Jackson, and one granddaughter, Lauren Grayce Day. Also survived by a sister-in-law, Diane Hudson Munson, two nephews, Eric and Mason Munson and several cousins.

In lieu of flowers, he would prefer contributions to a charity of your choice, or Northside Church, 2571 N. Highland Ave., Jackson, TN 38305; St. Jude's Hospital; or the Carroll County Humane Shelter.
