Mr. James Leon "Chick" Wilkes, 81 of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 at Lexington Manor.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Palmer Shelter Cemetery. Bro. Larry DePriest will officiate the service.
The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Sunday after 5:00 PM and on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
Pallbearers who will serve are Don Herald, Matt Herald, Jason Pearson, Jimmy Wilkes, Patrick Wilkes, and Chad Ward.
Mr. Wilkes was born December 3, 1933 in Carroll County, Tennessee to the late James R. and Lena (Mann) Wilkes. He was a civilian engineer for Rossi Contractors, owner of Casey's and Cotton Lane, and a Member of the Huntingdon Masonic Lodge #106. He was an Elks Lodge member for 50 years and last charter member of the Elks Lodge Card #9. He also served in the United Sates Army and the Army National Guard. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Wilkes, one son, Mark A. Wilkes, and one brother, Robert Gene Wilkes.
He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Herald (husband Donald "Kim") of Warrior, Alabama; three sons, James E. Wilkes (wife Rhonda), Miles Wilkes (wife Kimberly) both of Yuma, Charles "Chuck" Sullivan (wife Lisa) of Huntingdon, four step children, one sister, Marjorie Gillespie of McMinnville and one sister-in-law, Carolyn Wilkes of Huntingdon. He also leaves ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.
