Obituary

Mr. James Franklin Jackson, 81, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at Huntingdon Health and Rehab.

Memorials can be made to Gideons International or First Presbyterian Church of Huntingdon.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Whitley officiating. Interment to follow in Carroll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M, and on Monday from 11:00 A.M until time of service.

Mr. Jackson was born April 8, 1942, in Gadsden, Tennessee, to the late James Hopper Jackson and Virginia Dycus. He was a graduate of Gadsden High School, received his Bachelor's Degree from Bethel University, his Master's Degree from Memphis State University. Beginning in college he worked as a "Radio DJ" and sports announcer for various stations until 2013. He served as teacher, coach, principal and superintendent of schools, retiring after thirty years of service in Fayette County, Tennessee, Pocahontas, Arkansas and in Carroll County. He was a lay Presbyterian Minister, a member of First Presbyterian Church of Huntingdon, Gideon International, and a former member of the Rotary Club. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sadie Jackson, who raised him, and a son-in-law, Chet Roberts.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Christine (Glover) Jackson, a daughter, Suzanne Carter (David) of Huntingdon, a son, Mark Jackson (Kim) of Martin, two sisters, Patricia Gibbs (Mark) of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Kimberly Jackson, of Murfreesboro, and five brothers, John Hayes (Liz) of Houston, Texas, Jerry Hayes (Ruth) of Germantown, Joe Hayes, of Palmetto, Florida, Mike Jackson (Vickie) of Bartlett, and Tim Jackson, of Jackson. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Hannah Hickerson, Lauren Roberts, Brett Jackson, Rebecca Roberts, Tori York, Brady York, Aly Carter, and ten great-grandchildren.
