Mr. James Murlin "Pop" Loyd, 77, of Huntingdon passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Bro. Jeff Moody will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Saturday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Sunday from 9:00 AM until time service.

Mr. Loyd was born March 11, 1939 to the late Sanford and Autry (Ashmore) Loyd. He was retired from the Davey Tree Company; he attended Beech Bluff High School and was member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Beech Bluff. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, David Joshua Loyd and a brother, Jerry Loyd.

He is survived his wife of 56 years, Merlyn J. (Williams) Loyd; one daughter, Vicky Hatch (Randy); one son, David Loyd (Teresa) all of Huntingdon; one sister, Peggy Wilson (Milton) of Pinson; two brothers, Wayne Loyd (Judy) of Chesapeake, Virginia and Ronnie Loyd (Linda Jo) of Virginia Beach, Virginia. He also leaves one granddaughter, Hayley Hatch Ezell (Cody) of Huntingdon.
