Mr. James Thomas Spivey, Sr., 87 of Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Baptist Hospital Huntingdon.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
Mr. Spivey was born April 27, 1937, in Sikeston, Missouri, to the late Elmes Hilton and Nancy Dona Spivey. He was a driver for Turner Dairy, a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, a veteran paratrooper in the 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagles". He had an unequaled work ethic. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Spivey, wife Shirley Spivey, grandson Landin Elijah Blair, four sisters, Margie Hopkins, Delcia Bagwell, Elsie Russell, Jenna Allen, two brothers, Merlin Spivey, Richard Spivey, and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Rimmer.
He is survived by a daughter, Kim Byars (Chad) of Huntingdon, five sons, Jimmy Spivey (Mary) of Murfreesboro, John Spivey (Carol) of Bells, Chuck Spivey (Mary Ann) of Medina, Randy Spivey (Theresa), Chris Spivey (Tammy) both of Huntingdon, a sister Pat Hooker (Lyndell) of Duquoine, Illinois, a brother, Virlin Spivey of Darlington, South Carolina, a daughter-in-law, Carol Spivey, of Clarksburg, 27 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.
