Mr. James Donaldson Townsend 86, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Palmer Shelter United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Palmer Shelter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the Oak Wood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Thursday after 5:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM

Mr. Townsend was born in Carroll County, Tennessee to the late Ned Townsend and Florence (Rich) Townsend. He was a retired Road Commissioner for the Carroll County Highway Department, a member of the Palmer Shelter United Methodist Church in Huntingdon and a WWII Army Veteran. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Lavern Townsend, two sisters, Mary Lee Chester, Annie Bennett, five brothers, Lois Townsend, Lyle Townsend, Harold Townsend,Kenneth Townsend and Nolan Townsend.
He is survived by one daughter; Brenda Townsend, two sons; David Townsend (wife DeAnna) and Dennis Townsend (wife Karen) all of Huntingdon. He also leaves four grandchildren; Jeremy Townsend, De Lecia Townsend, Tori Townsend, Brady Townsend and one great granddaughter; Annaka Townsend.
