Mr. JC Gordon, 93 of Spring Creek, Tennessee passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Hickory Flat Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the Oakwood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Monday, from 6:00PM to 9:00 PM and on Tuesday, from 8:00AM until time of service.
Pallbearers who will serve are Tony McNeil, Tony White, Brian Crump, William Ninness, Jeremy Gordon, and David Garey.
Mr. Gordon was born July 14, 1920 in Wayne County to the late Oscar Gordon and Ada (Turnbo) Gordon. He retired from working as a fireman for the Milan Arsenal in 1988 after 38 years of service and was a veteran serving in the Navy in the South Pacific on the USS Maryland battleship. He earned his GED in 1985, when he was 65 years old. Mr. Gordon was a Mason at Lodge #191 in Milan, and was a member of Hickory Flat Methodist Church and also attended Cool Springs Presbyterian Church and Lavinia Baptist Church.He is also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Birdie Lee Fortner Gordon, and two brothers, William Clarke and John Clarke.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Alguire (Bob) of Bartlett, TN, Brenda White (Anthony) of Spring Creek, and three sons, Kenny Gordon (Melinda) of Cedar Grove, Jeff Gordon (Melissa) of Lexington, and Phil Gordon (Jenny) also of Cedar Grove, four sisters, Marcia Wildridge, Sue Smith, Annie Jo Kemp, and Elise Humphrey. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
