Mrs. Majoria "Jo" Jane Melton Abbott, 89, of Huntingdon, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020, at her home.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Food Pantry, c/o Robbie Carlton, 815 Westport Road, Huntingdon, TN  38344

The family will have a private graveside service.

Mrs. Abbott was born June 13, 1931 in Troy, Tennessee, to the late Lee Mitchell Smith and Nannie Estelle (Springer) Smith.  She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family construction and well drilling businesses and a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.  Her favorite hobby was to crochet prayer shawls for both Mt. Zion and Huntingdon First United Methodist Churches.  She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar Melton, second husband, Ondell Abbott, one daughter, Patricia Jane Melton, two brothers, and one sister.

She is survived three daughters, Fredia Harris (Frankie), Cathy Garner, both of Huntingdon, LeAnn George (Bud) of Murfreesboro, three sisters, and one brother.  She also has nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.
