Obituary

Mr. John Detwiler, 83 of Yuma, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church with Bro. Jacob Harris and Bro. Henry Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery.

Pallbearers who will serve are Gary O'Brien, Don Dean, Brad Smith, Bobby Smith, Brandon Johns and Jim Shiner.

The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until time of service.

Mr. Detwiler was born on July 29, 1940, in Columbiana, Ohio, to the late Marcus and Estella Schloneger Detwiler. He was a driver for U.P.S. and a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, taught Sunday School, and sang in the choir. He was a prayer warrior and a true servant of God. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Witmer, and three brothers, Donald Detwiler, Kenny Detwiler, and Rollin Detwiler.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cheryl Detwiler, two sisters, Lorene Ruby and Jan Zeigler (Jim), both of Ohio, and three brothers, Ellis Detwiler (Caroline) of Virginia, Richard Detwiler, of Ohio, and David Detwiler (Nancy) of Massachusetts.
