Obituary

John Wilford Thomsen, 91, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015, at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Brother Tony Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at the Leach Seventh­-day Adventist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service in the Oakwood Room of Chase Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Adam Wallace, Paul Wallace, and Alan Verona and grandsons­-in-law, Eric Junker, Mike Walter, and Zac Ellis.

Mr. Thomsen was born April 3, 1924, in Huntingdon, Tennessee to the late Eldon Henry and Nona Leona (Tosh) Thomsen. He was a retired farmer who owned and worked the family farm located at 3760 McLemoresville Road, Huntingdon, Tennessee. The farm has been in Mr. Thomsen's family for over 100 years and has been recognized as a Century Farm by the state of Tennessee. Mr. Thomsen was a member of the Christian Chapel Church of Christ and served in the United States Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Thelma Thomsen Kirby and Ardell Thomsen Mann, and two brothers, Garvin Thomsen and Harold Thomsen.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth Jarrett Thomsen; three daughters, Betty Wallace (Paul) of McLemoresville, Mary Verona (David) of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Deborah Barger (John) of Huntingdon; six grandchildren, Adam Wallace (Jo), Jennifer Wallace Junker (Eric), Hannah Barger Walter (Mike), Paul Wallace, Faith Barger Ellis (Zac), and Alan Verona; and three great-grandchildren, Brent Wallace, Nathan Junker, and Evelyn Walter.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Christian Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery, Liberty All Church Cemetery, the Leach Seventh­-day Adventist Church Cemetery or a favorite charity.
