Mr. Joseph James Caldwell, 89, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Jackson Madison Co. General Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Curtis Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Leach Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Friday from 11:00 AM until time of service.
Mr. Caldwell was born January 5, 1931 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Lillian Allgood, who married James Allgood, his stepfather. He retired from New York State Bell Telephone Company as a line man, and retired from being a roofer, carpenter, painter mechanic and his specialty plumbing. He was a faithful head elder at Maranatha Seventh Day Adventist, and before that he was an Elder at Emmanuel Temple, Seven Day Adventist Church in Buffalo, New York. He was also preceded in death by wife of 51 years, Shirley Caldwell, one daughter, Carol Caldwell, one grandson, Michael, one sister, Clara (Caldwell) Daniel, one Aunt Maud Smith, and son-in-law, Vincent Bell.
He is survived by his dear wife of thirteen years, Janet Gentle Caldwell, three daughters, Diane VanEver (Leonard), Joann Bell, Joselyn Gibson (Donald), four step-sons, Glenn, Keith, Roy, and Kirk. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Erika, Melissa, Linda, Pretecka, Nicole, Jarmel, Donald, Jr., eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
