Mrs. Josephine Stokes Smith, 88, of Clarksburg, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 1:00 PM with Bro. Mark Simons and Bro. Chase Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Sellers Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the Oakwood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
Pallbearers who will serve are Brent Smith, Brandon Smith, Colin Crossno, Andy Lewis Matthew Hicks, and Bob Chase. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Birmingham, Bobby Birmingham, J.W. Noles, Danny Simpson, Johnny Blount, Jimmy Pritchard, Ricky Pritchard, Ralph Rush, Ricky Scott, Donnie Ray Smith, Bobby Smith, and Willett Coffman.
Mrs. Smith was born February 16, 1937 in Clarksburg, Tennessee to the late George Washington Stokes Jr. and Mary Olivene (Jarrett) Stokes. She was married to Charles Ray Smith on May 3, 1953, who preceded her in death on June 16, 1997. She attended Roans Creek Church of Christ. She worked at Publix Shirt Factory, which later became Thomas Bradford Shirt Factory, for 42 years. After retirement she worked part time Clarksburg Kwik Mart where she became known as "Granny" to all who knew her.
She is survived by a son, Michael Smith (Doris), a daughter, Debbie Crossno, all of Clarksburg, five grandchildren, Kelli Lewis (Andy), of Parkers Crossroads, Brent Smith (Brittany), of Clarksburg, Brandon Smith (Caitlin), of Clarksburg, Courtney Hicks (Matthew) of Westport and Colin Crossno (Lezley), of Huntingdon. She also leaves ten great grandchildren, Eva Claire and Maggie Lewis, Mason and Hunter Smith, Cole and Hutson Smith, Marley and Corbin Hicks, Hazel and Wes Crossno.
