Mrs. Mary Mays, 83, of Huntingdon, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.                                           

 In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be directed to St. Jude or the Carroll County Library.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Hampton officiating.

The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service.

Mrs. Mays was born July 26, 1943 in Senath, Missouri, to the late Edward Arnold and Jean Beacham Arnold. She was a long-time school teacher and went on to become Director for Carroll Academy, helped establish the alternative school, and was principal of Tennessee Technology Center. She was a member of the Huntingdon Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years David Mays, two sisters and a brother.

 She is survived by her daughter, Pennye Ann Mays of Huntingdon; one son, Brian David Mays (Evelyn) of The Villages, Florida; She also leaves one granddaughter, Mallory Mays.
