Mr. Melvin Gurley "Oose" 91, of Clarksburg, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Clarksburg Cemetery. Bro. Philip Halter will officiate the service.
The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Thursday after 5:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
Mr. Gurley was born September 25, 1923 to the late Luther Vincent and Lois (Meals) Gurley. He was a farmer and a member of the New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Maxine Gurley; one son, Mark Gurley; one sister, Eunis Gurley; and one brother, Raymond Gurley.
He is survived by one son, Gregor Gurley (wife Brenda) of Cedar Grove; one sister, Marie Snider of Bruceton; two brothers, Marshall Gurley of Yuma and James Gurley of Germantown. He also leaves four grandchildren, Glenn Gurley, Lisa Kelly, Melissa Bartley, and Jamie McFarland; and eight great grandchildren, Josh Kelly, Heather Gurley, Brandon McCormick, Ashley Gurley, Dylan Gurley, Trista Russom, Ava Bartley, and Emma Bartley.
