Obituary

Mr. Michael Eugene Yancey, 66, of Buena Vista, Tennessee passed away Friday, June 7, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home.  Bro. Roger Cooper officiated the service.  Interment followed in the McAuley Cemetery.

Pallbearers who served were Derek Bradford, Austin Bradford, Nicholas Maness, Dwayne Maness, Orey Willis, and Tommy Davis.

The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Monday from 10:00 until time of service.

Mr. Yancey was born August 6, 1952 in Herrin, Illinois to the late Ralph Yancey and Beatrice Proffit Yancey.  He worked as an underground coal minor for Old Ben 25 and was a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church.  He was also preceded in death by step-son, Clint Ellis, two brothers, John Yancey, Jim Yancey, brother-in-law, Dave Brown and grand-daughter, Kaylin Ellis Allen.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Kay Ellis Yancey, one daughter, Kasie Harris (Mark Donoghue) of DuQuoin, Illinois, three step-daughters, Robin Finley (Bryan) of Bartlett, April Bradford (Derek) of Camden, Holly Hedge (Chad) of Buena Vista, one son, Brent Yancey of DuQuoin, Illinios, two sisters, Iris Kilpatrick (Don) of Ft. Myers, Florida, Janice Brown of Herrin, Illinois, two sisters-in-law, Jolene Yancey, Diane Yancey and one brother, Richard Yancey (Donna) all of Herrin, Illinois.  He also leaves seventeen grandchildren, Daulton Donoghue, Caleb Ellis, Lathan Harris, Caitlin Bradford, Austin Bradford, Emilee Ellis, Hannah Finley, Klayton Donoghue, Shelby Harris, Jasmine Allen, Austin Harris, Madison Bradford, Spencer Finley, Evan Allen, Tristan Finley, Nelson Ellis, Chase Hedge, two great grand kids, Mason Cole, Paxtyn Donoghue, two beloved pets, Romeo and Rusty and several beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
