Mrs. Ressie Earlene Knutty, age 82, of Adolphus, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10th, 2024, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Born on August 9th, 1942, in Ooltewah, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late John and Estelle (Roach) Johns.
Ressie was known for her vibrant personality and her deep love for her family. Beloved and full of grace, Inspiring all with her kindness, Never hesitating to lend a hand, Generous in spirit, and Open-hearted to everyone she met. She enjoyed spending quality time with her loved ones, creating lasting memories whether through family gatherings, outdoor activities, or simply enjoying each other's company.
A woman of many talents, Ressie had a passion for music and the arts. She was an accomplished pianist, guitarist, and singer, and shared her gifts with others throughout her life. Her artistic abilities extended beyond music, as she was also an avid painter, creating beautiful works that reflected her creative spirit.
In her leisure time, Ressie loved thrift shopping, finding treasures that she often shared with family and friends. She was also an enthusiast of outdoor activities, particularly playing horseshoes, golfing, and fishing. Her sense of adventure and her zest for life were contagious to all who knew her.
Ressie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by her husband: Donald Knutty; children: Kenneth Lawson (Shannon); Darlene Pena; Elaine Hendrix (Thomas); Melinda Hamilton; Donald Knutty Jr. (Wanda); Deborah Seery; Tim Knutty; Lisa Hartenstein; Crystal Newcomb (Donnie); daughter-in-law: Brenda Lawson. She is also survived by forty-one grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren.
Additionally, she is survived by her siblings: Jean West "Baby Sis"; Dale Johns (Yvonne); Larry Campbell; brother-in-law: Howard "Cowboy" Davis, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends who were blessed to know her.
In addition to her parents, Ressie was preceded in death by her son Gene Lawson; son-in-law Art Pena; siblings: Lucy (Jim) Parrott; Janis Davis; Johnny Lee Johns; stepsister Frankie "Big" Jean Denton; brother-in-law Don West; grandchildren: Travis Goins; Dominic Pena; Jamie Petty; great grandson Liam Lawson.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19th, from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM with services at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home in Huntingdon, Tennessee. Burial will be at Veteran Cemetery on McCrory Lane in Nashville, TN on November 26th, 2024, at 1 PM.
Ressie's legacy of love, creativity, and joy will forever live in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
