Mr. Richard Dwayne Gooch, 67, of Huntingdon, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 1, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Carroll Memorial Gardens. Pastor Mark Carrigan and Jason Martin will officiate the service.

Pallbearers who will serve are Frank Hartman, Alan Espey, Albert Stokes, Vince Taylor, Dr. Jerry Atkins and Charles Hodges. Honorary pallbearers will be the rest of the Upper Room Sunday School Class and Jacob Partridge.

The family will receive friends in the Cherry Wood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Mr. Gooch was born September 12, 1950 in Jackson, Tennessee to the late Joseph Lee Gooch and Louise (Smith) Gooch. He was a retired OSHA compliance officer with the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration. He started out teaching in McKenzie for two years, then worked for county mayor Pat Williams for two years before beginning his career with TOSHA, he served in the U. S. Navy from 1968 to 1974, separated with the rank of E-3. He loved his church having served and chaired several different committees within the church, he was very devoted to the West Tennessee Emmaus community and also enjoyed playing golf. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Gooch, October 10, 2004, one brother, Joe A. Gooch and a brother-in-law, Herbert Bruce Giddens.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gaye (Giddens) Gooch, one sister Phyllis Contasti (Hector) of Henderson, Kentucky, two sister in-laws, Kathy Edwards of Trezevant, Carol Finch Gooch of Cincinatti, Ohio, brother and sister in law, Randy and Dana Moffitt of Huntingdon. He also leaves one granddaughter, Megan Gooch of Memphis.
