Mr. Robert Charles "Skip" Wolfe, 85, of Huntingdon TN passed away Wednesday, April 10,
2024 at his home.
Funeral services will be private for the family.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be directed to a charity of your choice.
Mr. Wolfe was born January 29, 1939 in New Haven, Missouri to the late Roy and Viola Myers
Wolfe.
"Skip" had high school achievements in many sports including basketball, baseball, softball,
cross country running, and track.
He played varsity basketball four years in high school in New Haven, Missouri and was named
as the first high school sophomore to be on the conference all-star basketball team in 1955.
In addition to varsity basketball, he competed in cross country running and track during his high
school years. In October of 1956 he was named the top runner in Franklin County, Missouri. He
also played catcher in baseball and softball and coached the elementary school basketball team
in New Haven, Missouri in 1956 and 1957 while attending high school.
His high school basketball team was the Missouri state champions during his junior and senior
years in 1956 and 1957. In November of his high school senior year he had a hunting accident
where he severely injured his foot and lost two of his toes. Through his hard work and
determination he was able to continue playing basketball in January and received a full four-
year scholarship to join the Memphis State University Tigers basketball team in Memphis,
Tennessee.
As a Memphis State University basketball varsity guard he received recognition as most
valuable player in the Sugar Bowl Tournament in New Orleans, Louisiana for two different
years. His Memphis State basketball team played in the National Invitational Tournament in
Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
He was drafted to play basketball with a new American League starting a team in Chicago,
Illinois however he chose to remain in Memphis, Tennessee.
He was inducted into three halls of fame, namely:
Memphis State University Sports Hall of Fame in Memphis, Tennessee
Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in Kansas City, Missouri
Carroll County Sports Hall of Fame in Huntingdon, Tennessee
After graduating from college with a Bachelor's Degree he was employed for about 10 years as
a high school mathematics teacher and basketball coach at Atwood High School in Atwood
Tennessee.

He left teaching and coaching to start Wolfe Construction/Building-Insulation Co. which he
managed for about 50 years.
He studied for two years at the St. Peter's Evangelical Church in New Haven, Missouri and was
confirmed for his Bible studies on Palm Sunday in 1953.
He was a member at Palmer Shelter Methodist Church in Huntingdon,Tennessee.
He met Janice Ann Smith at Memphis State University in Memphis, Tennessee and they
married November 5, 1960.
They had four daughters: Sondra, Marsha, Trista, Charla
They had seven grandchildren: Justin, Alexandra, Couri, Lawson, Anthony, Dylan, Reno
They had six great grandchildren: Wyatt, Hazel, Easton, Everly, Madilyn, Zachary, and a boy
due in July of this year.
"Skip" was very proud of his family and loved spending time with them. During their life
together,"Skip" and Janice enjoyed traveling to all 50 states. He loved listening to Elvis during
their road trips.
He loved the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and enjoyed watching them play in the St. Louis
Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri where he even caught a few foul balls.
