June 10, 1965 – January 30, 2024
Roslyn Porter departed this life peacefully on January 28, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago, IL.
Services will be held on February 10, 2024. Visitation will be held 11am – 1pm. Funeral services will
begin at 1pm, at Chase Funeral Home in Huntingdon, TN. Burial will be held afterwards at Mt. Pleasant
Baptist Church Cemetery on 667 Mt Pleasant Church Rd., Bruceton, TN 38317.
Roslyn accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist
Church, Bruceton TN, Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Atwood TN, Hunter Avenue Baptist
Church, Memphis TN, and Christ Universal Church of Holiness, Chicago, IL. Roslyn put her faith into
action by devoting her time, resources, and energy to helping others. She would share food and clothing
donation sites with those in need. Before, during, and after the Pandemic, Roslyn would even deliver (via
the city bus using a cart) donations to friends who could not pick them up themselves. She was especially
supportive of the Chicago Police Department.
Roslyn is the mother of one son, Jason Collier (38 years), whom she loved very much. She was
exceptionally proud of him and always enjoyed their time together. Roslyn leaves a legacy of being an
overcomer, a resilient woman of faith, and lover people.
Roslyn's early education was in the Carroll County School system. After moving to Chicago, she
attended Horace Mann Elementary and South Shore High School. She furthered her education at Harold
Washington College and Chicago State University. She was self-employed. Roslyn had an immense love
for animals and was very creative. She enjoyed painting, cooking, reading, and more hobbies in her free
time.

(Huntingdon TN), Stepfather: Larry Pearson (Atwood TN). Siblings: Larry Craig Pearson (Tilda),
(Jackson TN), Andrea Clark, (Nashville TN), and Noble Antoine Muhammad El (Deanna), (Chicago IL).
Five aunts: Artie Joe Wall (Milwaukee, WI), Vergie Porter Thomas (Rosser, TN), Paula Clark (late
Robert Jr.) (Huntingdon TN), Linda Pearl Pearson (Memphis, TN), and Helen Pearson (Atwood TN).
Four uncles: Bernis Porter (Dayton OH), Eddie D. Porter, Jr. (Rena), (Rosser TN), Pete M. D. Porter
(Detroit, MI), Charles O. Porter (Shirley) (Huntingdon, TN). A great uncle: Joe L. Foulks (Rose) (Detroit
MI). Two great aunts: Pearl Foulks (late Rufus) (Huntingdon TN), Bertha Mae Cunningham (Atwood
TN). Also, Six nephews, five nieces, three great nieces, her close friends, Rochelle "Shortcake" Lacey, and
Annie Pearson, many other relatives and host of church members & friends.
Roslyn was proceeded in death by Eddie D. Porter, Sr. (Coetter) her maternal grandparents, Robert Clark, Sr.
(Annie) her paternal step grandparents, Miles Pearson (Clara Ellen Cunningham) her paternal step
grandparents, Veronica Elaine Collins (sister), and many others of whom we carry in our hearts.
