Obituary

Mrs. Ruth Kelly, 82, of Cedar Grove, Tennessee passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024 at The Waters of McKenzie.

Funeral services will be Conducted on Wednesday, May 15, 20024 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Osborne officiating the service. Burial will follow in Leach Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of the service.

Pallbearers who will serve are Dale Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, T.J. Johnson, Dylan Johnson, John Blenis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bubba Blenis II, Shawn Morgan, Chad Hughes, Sean Applegate, Casey Applegate, Matt Fleshman.

Mrs. Kelly was born September 22, 1941 in Crockett County, Tennessee to the late James Thomas Woodson and Theadora Elizabeth (Burrow) Woodson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Dean Kelly, a brother, James Thomas Woodson Jr., a son, Gary Dale Johnson Sr., a Son-in-law, Doug Applegate. She worked as an electrician for Motorola in Chicago, Illinois and on Submarines for Ingalls Shipbuilding at Pascagoula, Mississippi, she was a switchboard operator and medical records clerk at Madison Hospital in Madison, Tennessee and retired as a seamstress for Henry I. Siegal after twenty years.

She is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Applegate of Trezevant, a step son, Greg Chandler of Cedar Grove, a sister, Trannie Woodson Ball of Jackson, a brother, Dwayne Woodson (Carole) of McKenzie, five grandchildren, Dale Johnson (April), Joshua Johnson (Dwana), Jeremiah Johnson (Kayla), T.J. Johnson, Dylan Johnson (Vallie), three step-grandchildren, Sean Applegate (Wendy), Casey Applegate (Jenni), Megan Fleshman (Matt), Fourteen great grandchildren, eleven nieces and nephews, eleven step-great grandchildren, four step-great great grandchildren and her loving little chihuahua, Prissy.
