Mrs. Ruth Ellen Mitchell, 78 of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at her home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Humbles Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until time of service.

Mrs. Mitchell was born June 23, 1942 to the late Ida Maude Holder and O'Dale Clark in Huntingdon, Tennessee.  She gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Clark Street Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Senior Choir. She was also a member of the Webb Alumni Association. She attended school at Webb School in McKenzie, Tn. She was an employee at the Wilker Bros. Pajama Factory in McKenzie, Tn until they closed, an employee at the North West Tn Economic Development Center until she retired in 2013, and a part-time employee of the Keeton Law Office until she became ill.  She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.  She was preceded in death by her husband, T.W. Mitchell, ex-husband Jimmy Ray Melton, Sr, three daughters; Mary Melton, Vicky Denise Johnson, Judy Diane Melton, one stepson, Ricky Taylor, five sisters, Nancy Harris, Ola Mae Holder, Joyce Ann Holder, Gloria Clark, Theresa Clark, four brothers, Kenny Holder, Ralph Holder, Johnny Mac Mays, Tarus Clark, one granddaughter, Tamara Annette Melton and one great grandchild.

Mrs. Mitchell leaves two daughters, Selita Annette (Franklin) McFadden, Priscilla Taylor, both of Huntingdon, one son Jimmy Ray (Kim) Melton, Jr. of Murfreesboro, two step sons, Timothy Taylor of Nashville, Thomas Wayne Mitchell of Huntingdon, four sisters, Louise Holder of Chicago, IL, Ann Holder and Carolyn (Gregory) Cozart, both of Huntingdon, Brenda Luther of Milan, three brothers, Leon (Ann) Holder of Lexington, George (Mildred) Holder of Lexington, and Michael Clark of San Diego, California. She also leaves twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and a long list of friends, we could not list because we would leave someone out.
