Mr. Samuel Wray Umsted, 79, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel Hill Cemetery. Bro. Phillip Halter will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends in the Oakwood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Wednesday after 5:00 PM and on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM

Mr. Umsted was born March 13, 1938 in Benton County, Tennessee to the late Henry and Ollie Myrtle (Allen) Umsted. He was a retired Mechanic for the Huntingdon Service Center. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, James Umsted, Ernest "Bud" Umsted, and Neal Umsted.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Brenda Umsted; two daughters, Tammy Densmore (Joe) of Henry, Linda Smith (Chris) of Paris; five sons, Michael Umsted of Huntingdon, Jeff Umsted (Marie) of McKenzie, Bradley Umsted of Huntingdon, Crockett Smith (Amanda) of Dover, and Daniel Smith (Daphney) of Paris; three sisters, Pearl Winchester (Douglas) of Memphis, Alice Chappell of Gleason, and Shirley Brewer (Bobby) of Huntingdon; a brother, Bobby Umsted (Janice) of Huntingdon. He also leaves twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
