Obituary

Mr. Stephen W. "Steve" Roberts,71, of Huntingdon, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Bro. Alex Hilliard will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends in the Oakwood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of service.

Mr. Roberts was born December 8, 1946 in Wildersville, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Lexington High School, Class of 1965. He was drafted into the US Army in May of 1966 and proudly served two years of active duty in Vietnam, After serving in the US Army, He joined the Tennessee Army National Guard where he achieved the rank of First Sergeant, retiring in April of 1996. Steve was a Brick and Block Mason for the majority of his life. He then worked for 10 years for Proctor and Gamble retiring in 2009.

Steve proudly served the South Carroll Special School District School Board for 28 years. He was an active member of Davis Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a board member for the Clarksburg Utility District, a member of the Clarksburg Ruritan Club, United Methodist Men Huntingdon Circuit, and the American Legion of Parkers Crossroads.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy (Smothers) Roberts; a son Cody Roberts (Kristin) both of Huntingdon; Four granddaughters, Lauren Roberts, Rebecca Roberts, Matti Roberts, and Macie Roberts and Brothers, Stan (Josie) Roberts of Purvis, Mississippi, Tim (Sue) Roberts of Telford, Tennessee; a daughter in law, Suzanne Carter of Huntingdon; a sister in law Paula Roberts (wife of the late Mike Roberts) of Chesterfield, Tennessee; many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Gertrude Roberts of Wildersville, a son, Chet Anthony Roberts, sister Gloria Gene (Jack) Akers of Bristol, Tennessee; three brothers, Bobby (Peggy) Roberts of Parkers Crossroads, Andy Roberts of Lexington and Mike Roberts of Chesterfield.
