Mr. Thomas Dewey Gardner, "Redneck" 68 of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, February 14 at his home.
Mr. Gardner was born January 10, 1944 in Madison County, Tennessee to the late Dewey Admiral Gardner and Molly Christine (Jones) Gardner of Lavinia. After careers at Delta Airlines and in construction, he moved back to Carroll County to open Redneck Supply House, his pawnshop and playground for more than 20 years.
He is survived by his wife; Ann Gardner, his daughter; Terri Leland (husband Scott), his son, Thomas Dewey Gardner, Jr. and his daughter Tina Knight (husband Greg) all of Knoxville. He is also survived by sisters, Jane Jackson (husband Al) of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Judy Volner (husband Bill) of Lavinia and Ava McLemore also of Hendersonville, North Carolina. His grandchildren are Brittany Swanson (husband Erik), Breanna Carlton and Asher Knight all of Knoxville.
He had a lifelong devotion and passion for music and could be found many days strapped to a guitar and singing for his patrons and family. He was a member of the Huntingdon Masonic Lodge. He was a character with jokes and wit and the world was his stage. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in New Crossroads Church Cemetery. Brother Rick Crossno and Judge John Everett Williams will officiate the service.
The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood room of Chase Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
Masonic rite will be held at 8: 00 PM on Friday.
