Obituary

Mr. Timothy John Carlton, 57, of Buena Vista, Tennessee formerly of Decatur, Illinois passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.

Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Sunnyside Road Church of Christ in Decatur, Illinois. Bro. Greg Swango will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Sunnyside Road Church of Christ from 10:00 AM until time of service.

Mr. Carlton was born February 3, 1961 in Decatur, Illinois. He was a graduate of Eisenhower High School in 1979, attended Millikin University and graduated from David Lipscomb University in 1983. He was commissioned as 2 nd LT in in USMC in May of 1983 and reaching the rank of Capt. in 1987 and he also was in the Marine Corp Reserves. He worked as a police officer in Fredericksburg, VA from 1987 until 1991 where he was the founding member of SETT team. From 1991 to 2015 he was a police patrol officer, detective, and served on the emergency response team for the Decatur Police Department. He was a member of the Westport Church of Christ in Westport, Tennessee and a former member of the Sunnyside Road Church of Christ in Decatur, Illinois. A fitness enthusiast, wrestler, hunter, fisherman, and a living example of what a Christian man should look like. He faced cancer with courage that inspired all of those close to him. He was many things to many people but being "Paw" to his grandchildren brought him the most joy.

He is survived his wife of 21 years, L Janette (Foor) Carlton of Buena Vista, Tennessee; a daughter, Megan Mayorov (Alex) of Nashville, Tennessee; two sons, Keenan Carlton (Lauren) of Clarksville, Tennessee and Jason Carlton of Scottsdale, Arizona; his parents, Hartley and Sylvia Carlton of Decatur, Illinois; a sister, Carolyn Auerswald (Eric) of Mt. Zion, Illinois; two brothers, Howard Carlton (Pat) of Mountain City, Tennessee and Paul Carlton of Decatur, Illinois. He also leaves four grandchildren, Mila Mayorov, Greyson Mayorov, Tucker Carlton, and Jace Carlton. He also leaves behind a special Aunt, Norma Turok, a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
