Obituary

Mr. Wilburn Ray Laws, 74, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sellers Hill Cemetery. Bro. Billy Ringold and Bro. Chase Sanders will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room Chase Funeral Home on Saturday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Sunday from 1:00 PM until time of service.

Mr. Laws was born August 8, 1941 in Carroll County, Tennessee the12th child of six boys and six girls to the late Gothe Grecian and Sophia (Crider) Laws. He was an active member of the Clarksburg Church of Christ, he was baptized April 8, 1964. He worked for Ben Smith Lumber Co. for 3 years, the Milan Arsenal for 7 years, retired from Norandal after 28 ½, and after retiring he worked for the Clarksburg Utility District for 12 years. He loved fishing, camping, traveling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, infant Lucetta Laws, Dorothy Sanders, and Doye Simmons; three brothers, Homer Laws, Walden Laws, and Odell Laws.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances (Gurley) Laws; one daughter Cynthia "Cindy" Dianne Laws Phifer (husband Randall)of Murfreesboro three sons, James Steven Laws (wife Brenda), Stanley Ray Laws, Phillip Dale Laws (wife Debbie) all of Huntingdon; two sisters, Evola Thompson, Juanita McCord (husband Tom) both of Huntingdon; two brothers, John Wesley Laws (wife Shelby) of Palatine, Illinois, and Joe Vernon Laws (wife Venita) of Huntingdon. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Stan Laws (April), Ashley Laws, Daniel Laws, Rachel Allen (Kalap), Anna Click(Jacob), Haden Phifer, and Kaylee Phifer, and six great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Bayleigh, and Bentley Laws, Gabriel Laws, Alyah Allen, and Addison Click.
