Mr. William Norval Bird, 96, formerly of Cedar Grove, Tennessee passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Obion Chapel Cemetery in Cedar Grove, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends at the Obion Chapel Church of Christ on Monday from 12:00 noon until time of service. Bro. Ernest Pounds will officiate the service.
Pallbearers who will serve are his grandchildren.
Mr. Bird was born February 12, 1923 in Cedar Grove, Tennessee, to the late William Dewey Bird and Zelm Estelle (Hardy) Bird. He was a retired civilian employee for the Department of Defense, served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and a member of Obion Chapel Church of Christ. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Janie Juanita Bird, one brother, one half-brother, five half-sisters, and one grandson, Will Bird.
He is survived by two sons, Dwayne Bird (Judy) of Arlington, Gary Bird (Barbara) of Eads, two half-sisters, Wilma Black and Earlene Jenkins, both of Illinois and one brother, Odwain Bird of Portage, Indiana. He also leaves six grandchildren, Ken Bird, Sherry Bird Yoho, Brian Bird, Seth Bird, Mark Bird, Amanda Bird Pinto and fifteen great-grandchildren, Kenny, Ronnie, Taylor, Dean, Ryan, Madison, Karlyn, Gunnar, Hannah, Ally, Zay, Janie, Mason, Gracie, and Tempy.
